Staff

Below is a Mould Room staff's account of what he/she is looking to achieve.

Hi, I'm Joan and I work in the mould room. After I left school I trained as a therapy radiographer. I really enjoyed my work but then did the usual - fell in love, got married, had kids (I think in that order), and had to give up work. After the kids started full-time school I began to miss working, but I didn't want to go full-time. I asked my boss in the Chemotherapy department if they'd take me back. She said that what they really needed was an extra pair of hands in the mould room. So I said OK. That was 15 years ago, and I'm still here. Most of what I do technically I've learnt through doing it. It feels more like sculpture than anything else. I love working with the patients and I like the sense that my skills are helping to improve the effectiveness of their treatment.
